US AIR FORCE

Joining the U.S. Air force and flying jets has been my dream ever since I was a kid. I am almost out of high school and am currently enrolled in the U.S. Air Force training camp. When I get my high school diploma, I can start training to get my pilot’s license and start getting closer to achieving my dream of flying jets for the Air Force. First, I need to find an eye surgeon that can perform Lasik in Orange County. I have been wearing eye glasses since I was eight. I usually wear contact lenses, but to fly jets for the Air Force, perfect vision is a must. I need to find an eye surgeon that can perform Lasik in Orange County so that my vision can be restored and I no longer need to wear glasses or contact lenses. Lasik eye surgery has made many advances over the years and is almost completely safe. Of course, there is always a small risk, but it is one that I am certainly willing to take in order to achieve my goal of flying jets for the Air Force. The training camp that I attend even offered to pay for the Lasik operation.

FINANCIAL CRISIS IN THE US

Healthcare was always expensive, but with all these diabetes products I am now forced to buy, the financial situation has really gotten difficult. At first I was hoping it would all be covered by health insurance, and I was not so wrong, for in the beginning it was. Then one day all these really cool looking things came out on the market, each new product claimed to make life easier for people suffering from diabetes. So, being as naïve as I was I bought them all. The first three did not work at all, and they left me really depressed and with an even lower blood sugar. So you can imagine my excitement when the newest product for diabetics flashed across my television screen one day. The high price of fifty dollars every two weeks did not phase me for a second, I was at a point already that I was ready to pay any price just to not always have to worry about my blood sugar. After trying the spanking new product two times it unfortunately was just another guaranteed money hungry scam. All the money I used is now gone, but life really would have been easier if something would have really worked.

GERMAN AUTHORITIES

The bancarrota filing was the only thing we could do. I had resigned as Senior Vice President, but had to stay on due to the fact that I was the only one who knew the entire manufacturing process. This was really uncomfortable. But the company didn’t have any choice. I felt totally embarrassed. It was my fault the company was in the shape is was, due to my carelessness. I didn’t do enough due diligence. We were in contact with the German authorities, but not one of the men we had met with was to be found. Interpol even had notices out on them, but all we had were pictures. They have assumed identities of people long dead. The German law firm wasn’t even sure what they could be charged with even if they were wedged; Maybe some type of fraud. The only thing we would accomplish in catching them would be to perhaps find out who is behind this, and why. We suspected some of our competition. Our company lawyer, Thomas, did some research on our competitors across the country and world, and found a number of suspects that we could pin this on. We had no reason or authority to pursue an investigation though.

GRAND JURY

We were arrested, arraigned, and went before a Grand Jury, all for being a small wholesaler of cut tools. We had started our business over 30 years ago, using a mimeographed sheet that we went door-to-door delivering. We worked from our garage. Business was a struggle. We moved a fair amount of things over the first year, but really had our doubts about it all. We stuck it out, though, and, after a couple of years, things really began to take off. We turned profitable after about three years, and then things took off. We grew at astounding rates. We had so much business in our 5th year that we had to move out of the garage and look for something larger. Much larger. We found a location in a warehouse area some 10 miles from where we lived. This was our business home for the next 15 years or so, until we outgrew this space too. We just kept growing. There was no secret. We just dealt personally with all our customers, and treated them like we would want ourselves treated. It worked beyond our wildest dreams. We reached 50 million in sales soon, and we even thought about going public, but decided not to go that route, as we would lose too much control, and be subject to government control.

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PLAN

The other day I walked up to my friend Ernie and asked him if he knew anyone with diabetes. He shook his head “no” and then I shook his hand, telling him that now he did. Yeah, it was just the best day ever. I just knew I’d trip and fall down onto some great no insurance diabetic supplies. That’s right. I’d been diagnosed with diabetes, but my parents were footing the bill for that tab. Otherwise, I have no health insurance. Why not you ask? Well, other than I live in the United States of America, which is supposed to be the greatest country in the world yet has no universal healthcare plan? The short answer is that I can’t afford it. And if you think that the company I work for will offer benefits you’re sorely mistaken. I’m a bartender, which is a so and so job. Some weeks I do better than others. There’s only so much I can do and I’m not that much of a people person to begin with. My parents want me to work construction or some kind of trade, but there was a reason I went to art school and not trade school.

CONTRY EMBASSIES

We are almost a decade into the 21st century, and you would think that if you wanted to or needed to talk to anybody you could do so. Not the case. I needed to find Tara because of an order for cutting tools gone wrong. I tried to track Tara first by calling the various countries embassies that make up the countries in the Amazon, but they wouldn’t tell me anything. They couldn’t. Privacy concerns, and I was not a government official. I then tried to contact various companies that dealed in Amazon trips, but there were many of them. I needed to pull some big strings, so I thought of who I knew. I talked to Jim who talked to Tom, his brother. His brother had once worked in the State Department, in Washington DC. I talked to Tom later in the day. Tom said that since I had done so much for Jim, especially with his diabetes, that he would try to find a few things out. The next morning he called and said he knew where Tara was. Great! I wanted her phone number. Turns out, she had no number to call. She was staying with some native peoples in a small village deep in the Amazon. There was only one thing to do. I got a satellite phone and got on the next plane.

COURT DECISION

Recently many people opposed the decision from a court about increasing the number in carriage hours of trucks. The federal motor carrier had claimed to increase the working hours of trucking to boost their business but law is still taking this matter into consideration. A personal injury attorney in Florida has voided an appeal of a federal trucking company since this has already created so much mess for traffic. Traffic problems have been continuously increasing due to increased trucking in this state. The court ordered a study to be conducted last month that has revealed that the major cause of accidents in the town is due to carelessness of drivers. In the presence of rules and regulations they are unable to control the number of accidents in the city. There are many evidences found against the federal motors & trucking corporation. The matter is still in court for consideration and will be announced in the upcoming days. In the report published by attorneys of Florida it was told that every year many people die due to these accidents. Still there are no necessary steps taken to cut down the ratio of accidents in the state and reduce accidents in the city.

CREDIT SCORE

Today, Janelle was explaining all the different ways I could get a handle on my financial situation, to put it simply, to get a handle on my debt. I had no idea there were so many different ways I could go that I never heard of. There is this thing called IVA, individual voluntary arrangement. You can come up with some sort of payment plan to pay off your debt within five years. There is something like a mediator (even though that’s not what the persons title actually is) and you would send them the payment and they would disburse the money to the people you owe money to. This way you avoid bankruptcy and all the consequences of it and this payment plan does not show on your credit report. I like this idea because the person negotiates with the credit people to either lower your payments or remove them altogether. This is also supposed to be better for your credit score. People say filing will hurt your credit and possibly give you a poor credit score. I’m thinking, if it gets to the point where you would have to file, isn’t your credit already messed up and your score already low?

LAW VICTORY

It was a victory! It’s all finally over. My family and I are just grateful that we picked the personal injury attorney that we did and that everything went so well. We knew we had a strong case from the very beginning but there’s always that little moment where you wonder if it’s going to work out. I’m glad those people were held accountable for what they did. After causing the accident they tried to drive off even though my mom was seriously injured. We all felt pretty helpless until the ambulance arrived. Luckily some police had been hiding out and happened to catch the whole thing. That’s why those drivers didn’t get away. The police had initially been there to look for people who were going over the speed limit. Not only were these drivers speeding but they were caught in the act of trying to hit-and-run. My mom will be finishing the last of her physical therapy appointments by the end of the month. I took on the responsibility of driving her wherever she needs to go until she is well enough to get behind the wheel of a car again. The doctors said the fact that she came out of it alive was a miracle!
